Tamiya 1/72 J.M.S.D.F. Torpedo Boat PT-15
Tamiya 1/72 J.M.S.D.F. Torpedo Boat PT-15
Tamiya 1/72 PT-15 Japanese Torpedo Boat.
The PT-15 was a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force torpedo boat developed during the Cold War era as part of Japan’s postwar coastal defense forces. Inspired by high-speed patrol and attack craft concepts developed during World War II, the PT-15 combined compact size, high speed, and heavy torpedo armament into a sleek coastal combat vessel optimized for defense of Japanese coastal waters.
Tamiya released the 1/72 PT-15 kit in 1977, several years after the company’s famous Perkasa fast attack craft kit. Despite its age, the PT-15 remains one of Tamiya’s most respected classic naval subjects thanks to its large size, excellent hull shape, and impressive deck detail for the era.
