Tamiya 1/35 French Light Tank H39 / Pz.Kpfw. 38H 735(f) (35389)
Full Product Description
Tamiya 1/35 French Light Tank H39
The Hotchkiss H39 was an improved version of the earlier H35 light tank, featuring a more powerful engine and improved mobility. Although originally designed to support infantry operations, the H39 became one of the principal French armored vehicles during the German invasion of 1940.
Following the fall of France, hundreds of captured H39s were incorporated into German service. The Wehrmacht redesignated them Pz.Kpfw. 38H 735(f) and used them for occupation duties, security operations, training, and combat service on several fronts.
Tamiya's kit accurately reproduces the compact, rounded shape of the H39 and includes options to build either French or German service vehicles. The model features detailed suspension, realistic cast armor textures, link-and-length tracks, and a highly detailed crew figure.

Historical Background
The H39 represented one of France's most numerous armored fighting vehicles at the outbreak of World War II. Despite its small size, the tank featured respectable armor protection for its era and a compact design that made it difficult to hit.
After 1940, captured H39s served extensively with German forces. Some vehicles were converted into self-propelled guns, artillery tractors, and other specialized variants, while many remained in frontline service throughout the war.
The H39's dual-service history makes it an especially attractive subject for modelers interested in either French or German armor.
