Tamiya 1/35 British Challenger 1 Mk.3

The FV4030/4 Challenger 1 became Britain’s premier main battle tank during the late Cold War and gained worldwide recognition during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Armed with the powerful 120mm rifled gun and protected by advanced Chobham armor, Challenger 1 tanks achieved an outstanding combat record during the Gulf War while maintaining extremely high operational readiness.

Tamiya released the Challenger 1 Mk.3 in 1992 shortly after the Gulf War, and the kit quickly became one of the most popular modern British armor kits because of:

  • Excellent fit

  • Straightforward construction

  • Strong Gulf War appeal

  • Realistic suspension stance

  • Easy desert finishing

  • Reliable Tamiya engineering
