Product Description

ICM 1/48 B-26B Marauder with USAAF Pilots & Ground Crew (48322)

Celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day with ICM's impressive 1/48 scale B-26B Marauder and USAAF Pilots & Ground Crew set. This special edition combines ICM's highly acclaimed new-tool B-26B Marauder with a detailed figure set, allowing modelers to create a realistic airfield diorama straight from the box.

The Martin B-26 Marauder was one of the most successful Allied medium bombers of World War II. Originally earning a reputation as a difficult aircraft to fly, later improvements transformed the Marauder into one of the safest and most effective bombers in the U.S. Army Air Forces inventory. By the end of the war, it had one of the lowest combat loss rates of any Allied bomber type.

ICM's modern tooling provides an exceptionally detailed interior, including cockpit, bomb bay, radio compartment, waist gun positions, dorsal turret, tail gun position, and detailed Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engines. The included pilots and ground crew add tremendous display potential for builders interested in creating a realistic European Theater scene.

Historical Background

The B-26B Marauder served extensively in Europe during 1944–45, flying tactical bombing missions against bridges, rail yards, airfields, and German troop concentrations. During the Normandy invasion, Marauders wore distinctive black-and-white invasion stripes to reduce the risk of friendly fire from Allied forces. The aircraft's speed, bomb load, and survivability made it one of the most effective medium bombers of the war.
