HK Models 1/48 Avro Lancaster B Mk.I

The Avro Lancaster was the backbone of RAF Bomber Command during World War II. Capable of carrying massive bomb loads deep into occupied Europe, the Lancaster participated in countless strategic bombing missions and famous operations such as the attacks on the Tirpitz, the Dambuster raids, and the delivery of the massive Grand Slam earthquake bomb.

Historical Background

The Avro Lancaster entered service in 1942 and quickly became the RAF's premier heavy bomber. Powered by four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the aircraft combined long range, heavy payload capacity, and remarkable reliability.

More than 7,300 Lancasters were built during the war, and they delivered over 600,000 tons of bombs against Axis targets. The aircraft became one of the most recognizable symbols of RAF Bomber Command and remains one of the most famous bombers ever constructed.
