Great Wall Hobby 1/48 Northrop P-61A Black Widow Glass Nose (L4806)
Product Description
Great Wall Hobby 1/48 Northrop P-61A Black Widow Glass Nose (L4806)
The Northrop P-61 Black Widow was America's first aircraft designed from the outset as a dedicated night fighter. Equipped with airborne radar, heavy cannon armament, and twin-engine performance, the Black Widow hunted enemy aircraft in darkness over Europe, the Pacific, and the China-Burma-India theater.
This special Glass Nose version represents one of the rarest and most distinctive P-61 variants. Instead of the standard radar-equipped nose, these aircraft featured a clear bombardier-style nose section for experimental and specialized operational roles.
Great Wall Hobby's 1/48 scale P-61A is widely regarded as the definitive Black Widow kit in this scale. The model features exceptional surface detail, detailed cockpits for pilot and radar operator, full radar equipment, detailed wheel wells, photo-etched components, metal gun barrels, and beautifully engineered clear parts. The Glass Nose version includes unique nose components not found in standard Black Widow releases.

Historical Background
The P-61 Black Widow entered combat in 1944 and quickly proved itself as a capable night fighter. Its onboard SCR-720 radar allowed crews to locate and engage enemy aircraft in complete darkness. Armed with four 20mm cannons and four .50 caliber machine guns, the Black Widow possessed tremendous firepower.
The Glass Nose aircraft represented a unique variation within the Black Widow family and offers modelers something far less common than the standard radar-equipped night fighter. The unusual clear nose gives the aircraft a distinctive appearance while retaining the imposing profile of the famous Black Widow.
