Dragon 1/35 Sd.Kfz.3a Maultier Half-Track Smart Kit

The German Sd.Kfz.3a “Maultier” (“Mule”) was developed during World War II after standard wheeled trucks proved nearly useless in the deep mud and snow of the Eastern Front. German engineers solved the problem by adapting truck chassis with tracked rear suspension systems derived from obsolete Panzer I components, creating a rugged semi-tracked logistics vehicle capable of operating in terrain where conventional trucks became immobilized.

The Maultier served throughout the war hauling ammunition, fuel, troops, and supplies under brutal conditions in Russia, Italy, and Western Europe. Its distinctive combination of Opel Blitz truck cab and tracked rear suspension made it one of the most recognizable German support vehicles of the conflict.

Dragon’s Smart Kit release was considered a major upgrade over older Maultier kits, featuring newly tooled parts, Magic Tracks, slide-molded details, photo-etch components, and a highly detailed cargo bed and chassis.
