Detail & Scale P-39 Airacobra (Volume 63) by Bert Kinzey
Product Description
The Detail & Scale P-39 Airacobra (Volume 63) by renowned aviation historian Bert Kinzey is one of the most complete references available on Bell's unique and controversial fighter designs.
This expanded-format volume covers the entire development and operational history of the Bell P-39 Airacobra, while also including comprehensive coverage of the P-63 Kingcobra. Featuring twice the color content of earlier Detail & Scale volumes, this edition provides a wealth of information for historians, restorers, and scale modelers.
The Airacobra's unusual mid-engine design and nose-mounted cannon made it one of the most distinctive fighters of World War II. While it saw mixed success in Western Allied service, the aircraft became highly effective in Soviet hands, where it achieved some of its greatest combat successes.
Packed with detailed photographs, technical images, cockpit views, camouflage information, and scale modeling references, this book is an excellent addition to any aviation library.

Historical Significance
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was one of the most unconventional fighters of World War II, featuring an engine mounted behind the pilot and a powerful 37mm cannon firing through the propeller hub. Although not ideally suited for high-altitude combat, it proved highly effective in ground attack and low-level operations.
The improved P-63 Kingcobra continued the design's evolution and saw significant service with Allied nations, particularly the Soviet Union, where both aircraft earned an impressive combat reputation.
